Northridge is one of the more affluent residential areas in Denton. It’s a very safe and friendly neighborhood, with many people who have lived here for decades. There are newer houses as well, but this area has traditionally been made up primarily of homes that were built before 1970 or so.
Northridge was developed in the early 1900s by developer Albert Warner to provide housing for those who worked at his cotton gin factory located on East McKinney Street not far from downtown Denton. The street names reflect some significant aspects about the development: “Center” being where it intersected with Austin Avenue (now University Drive) which ran east-west; “Eastside” running parallel to Center until its intersection with McMillan Road when it turned south; “Westside” running parallel to Center until its intersection with McMillan when it turned north.
