-Bird Key is a bird sanctuary, with many native birds and other wildlife. There are also several nesting sites for turtles in the area. Bird Key provides an excellent opportunity to experience nature up close as it was originally intended.
The Sarasota Nature Center & Planetarium has 20 acres of beautiful landscapes that include wetlands, black water creeks and hammocks where visitors can enjoy all sorts of flora and fauna including migratory songbirds from around the world.
The center features live animal presentations on Saturdays at 11am, 12pm and then again in the afternoon at either one or two o’clock depending upon what time you visit. During these programs keepers feed animals like snakes, frogs tadpoles or sloths while you watch.
The Sarasota Opera House is an iconic fixture in the cultural life of the city and one that many visitors come to see during their stay here. The opera house has been entertaining audiences since its opening in 1944 with performances from all around the globe. It seats over 1200 people, features a full stage with orchestra pit and hosts productions ranging from great operas.
