In the past, Sarasota was a community focused on tourism. It was the time when “Sarasota” meant only one thing: The Gulf Coast’s most upscale resort area.
But those days are gone and this little city by the sea is reinventing itself as an urban center for arts and culture with lively neighborhoods that offer excellent schools within walking distance of downtown office buildings, shops, restaurants and entertainment.
The City has also been able to maintain its small-town feel while providing opportunities for residents of all ages to enjoy cultural events at venues like Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall (home of internationally acclaimed Florida Orchestra) or attend avant garde exhibits at Art Center Sarasota—a regional museum dedicated to contemporary art.
