South Beach is the southernmost neighborhood of Miami, Florida. It was one of the first areas settled in during Greater Miami’s early days and has historically been an upscale tourism destination.
The Art Deco District, built up after World War II with hotels and apartment buildings designed by some of South Florida’s best-known architects offers a glimpse into America’s Jazz Age modernism that mirrored developments from Havana to Hollywood.
Today it still retains its reputation for being a hedonistic adult playground: nightclubs like Ice Palace, clubs such as Mokai Lounge bring even more nightlife options to this already vibrant tourist area while legendary restaurants attract foodies who flock here for world famous cuisine or just drinks at beachside bars. Still, South Beach is a blend of old and new with chic hotels such as the Miami Surf Club that help to create an atmosphere worth savoring.
