North Beach is a small neighborhood in Miami Beach FL. The City of North Beach was incorporated on December 14, 1925 with the purpose to regulate and maintain sanitary conditions within its boundaries as well as provide for effective fire protection service and promote orderly development.
The name “North Beach” came from the fact that it borders Biscayne Bay which once had many islands such as Key Largo (Key Island), Elliott’s Island, Rivo Alto or Broad Causeway island, Palm island or Park property – all at one time called by some form of ‘beach’ – before they were filled in during dredging operations between 1947-1953.*
