Annual Events: Cainhoy Pirate Festival
The Cainhoy Pirate Festival is a yearly festival hosted in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. The event was created to honor John Rhett, an 18th century pirate who operated out of Charleston’s harbor during colonial times.
The festival kicks off with a parade of pirate-themed ships and boats, followed by the main event: an “arghhborhood” that features artisans demonstrating their trade skills. The Cainhoy Pirate Festival is held on Saturday September 22nd this year from 11am – 12pm at the South Carolina Maritime Museum in Mt Pleasant. Admission to the event is $15 per person for adults and children under twelve are free admission!
Annual Events: Charleston Shrimp Festival
Charleston has always been known as “the shrimp capital of America” so it would be impossible not to include some events that celebrate our favorite crustacean here in town. One such festivity is The Annual Lowcountry Shrimp Festival. The festival, which is held in September each year, features a parade and plenty of food vendors selling their favorites – shrimp dishes!
The Lowcountry Shrimp Festival has been an annual event for the past 39 years now and attracts folks from all over the country to enjoy our spoils at one end-of-summer celebration.
